Bake Sale Time!

It is that time of year again and we will once again participate in Nake‘u Awai’s Christmas Faire “HAIL, HAIL, THE GANG’S ALL HERE!  December 3, 2011 at the Ko‘olau Ballrooms in lovely Kane‘ohe, selling baked goods.   The marketplace for sale of our baked goods opens at 9:30 a.m.  Because of generosity of our members and supporters, HCCH raised $1,268 at last year’s bake sale at HCCH member Nake‘u Awai’s holiday fashion show.  Funds raised at this event support our club’s general fund for operations and are separate from the HCCH Scholarship Fund.  We need your kokua again.   So happy bakers, drag out those cookie sheets and baking pans.  We are looking for “Homemade” baked goods:

All types of cookies Brownies with or w/out nuts All types of mochi (a must!)
fruit bars, also pickled onions, Preserves Mini cake loaves (bread or cake) … and cash donations always welcomed
Candied Apples

“NO PERISHABLES PLEASE”

Anything special

Please wrap your items “festively” (see through packaging – preferably) with pretty ribbon and describe your item with a label.    Presentation is a big plus and baked goods sell quicker.  People are quite health conscious today and labeling your goods to show the ingredients is good.   Please bag your cookies and bars by the “half dozen” which we find is easier to sell.   (We prefer not selling anything in a zip lock bag).  Pricing for the goods will be in denominations of $2.00, $3.00, $4.00 and up [as we would prefer to stay away from coin change], depending on size of item and how much your package contains.   If you would prefer that the baked sale committee price your item, please let us know.

If you are not a happy homemaker baker but would like to support this fundraiser, we will gladly accept a monetary donation.   Checks should be made out to HCCH and mailed to:

MAIL $$$ DONATIONS TO:

ATTN: Bake Sale
P.O. BOX 1513
Honolulu, HI 96806

Please call or e-mail anyone on the fundraising committee to tell us what you will be donating.  Please deliver goods to Koolau Golf Course on December 3 at 8:30 am or to the following members during the week before:

  • Macky Shea –Blulmax@aol.com –254-2269, 381-5873  (Kailua)
  • Luana Sala—    Lusala@ksbe.edu – 523-6280, (Waipahu….Bishop Estate bldg. in town)

Anyone want to help with sales?   Call Macky.   This is our last fundraiser for the year…..Mahalo Nui for your continued support of our Club!!!

Archives: 2003 USS Chung-Hoon Commissioning

Found some old photos in the archives and reposted here for your enjoyment. The USS Chung-Hoon was named in honor of Rear Admiral Gordon Pai’ea Chung-Hoon (1910–1979), recipient of the Navy Cross and the Silver Star and commissioned in 2003. The Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu choir performed a few numbers in honor of our former club member.

Here are just a few photos from the visit:
