The application for the 2006 HCCH Scholarship is only available on-line here, after March 1, 2006. (No hard copies will be mailed.) Each year the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu strives to continue the mission set by its founder, Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole, by providing academic scholarships for students of Native Hawaiian descent. Briefly, to be eligible for a scholarship from the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu, an applicant must meet the following criteria: Be of Hawaiian descent Be a resident of Hawai'i Be a full-time student in an accredited two- or four-year college as either a classified undergraduate or graduate student in or out of the State of Hawai'i Have a cumulative grade point average (g.p.a.) of 2.5 for graduating high school seniors or undergraduate students Have a cumulative g.p.a. of 3.0 for graduate students Priority is given to members of HCCH in good standing including directly-related family members. For more information, click here. APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS: In order to process your application, you will need to send the following items: 1. Your completed 2006 HCCH Scholarship Essay. 2. A completely and correctly filled-out HCCH 2006 Scholarship Application Form. 3. A photocopy of your Birth Certificate (included with your Application and Essay) (Note: You will not have to submit a copy of your birth certificate if you already submitted a copy of your birth certificate as part of an earlier application process with HCCH.) 4. An official copy of your most recent transcript (within last six months of this application) must be sent to HCCH by or before June 15, 2006. A transcript submitted beyond the last six months should be submitted with an explanation (returning to school, family, etc.). 5. A Letter of Acceptance from the institution you will be attending for a graduate program (first year only). You will not be considered for a scholarship unless we have received both the photocopy of your Birth Certificate AND an official copy of your most recent transcript! The Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu Board of Directors, based on recommendations by the HCCH Scholarship Committee, approves the amount of each award. Awards for the 2006 academic year will be made by mid-August 2006. Applicants will be informed by mail. The HCCH Scholarship Program is administered by the HCCH Scholarship Committee. Mail the completed application packet to the Hawaiian Civic Club of Honolulu at the following address (must be postmarked no later than May 15, 2006). A completed application packet will contain the following: 1. HCCH application form for 2006. 2. A photocopy of your Birth Certificate (unless submitted earlier). 3. The official copy of your current (within last six months of this application) transcript may be sent separate from the Application Package, but must reach HCCH by or before June 15, 2006. 4. A typed, double-spaced, two-page essay which addresses the following issue completely: See the 2006 HCCH Scholarship Question Incomplete application packets will not be considered. Be certain that you send in the completed application form AND a Copy of your Birth Certificate AND a completed essay which responds to this year's essay question. Completed application packets must be post-marked by May 15, 2006. No exceptions will be considered. The official copy of your current (within last six months of this application) transcript may be sent separate from the Application Package, but must reach HCCH by or before June 15, 2006.
